 A web site for RESEARCHERS AND STUDENTS: ALL NEW FOR MAY 2012   

 

                    OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this web site is to present the best, free resources in those subject areas that are the focus of programming and outreach by U.S Embassies, Consulates, or American Spaces overseas.  

 

                    We also hope that students and academic researchers everywhere will also find these  resources to be useful.               

 

 The website The website was designed by Stephen Perry, a State Department Public Diplomacy Officer for fifteen years, now with a U.S. Embassy in W. Africa.  The complete biography for Stephen is below, at the bottom of this page.

 

 

NEW! A FEBRUARY 2012 POWERPOINT (IN THE POWERPOINT SECTION BELOW) ON "HOW TO CUSTOMIZE GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINES: A STEP - BY- STEP GUIDE" as well as a simplified step-by-step word document: this was given to AC ACCRA PARTICIPANTS as we built an ECONOMICS CUSTOMIZED SEARCH ENGINE together (Part of the IRC ACCRA's unique INFORMATION LITERACY PROGRAMS.)

Biography:

 

Stephen Perry serves as Regional IRO with the U.S. Department of State, having served in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Washington, D.C., North Africa, and the Middle East; he joined the State Department in August 1998.  He speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese, has studied Arabic, and is conversant in other European languages.  Before joining the State Department, he was a University Professor at a research, land grant University in the U.S. from April, 1975 to August, 1998. He studied both Latin American History and Culture, and Linguistics, and specifically Romance Linguistics, in Graduate School, with a specialty in word borrowing in the Romanian language. Besides Graduate degrees in Latin American Studies and Romance Linguistics, he also has a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
